If you increase your fluid and fiber intake, you can help prevent hemorrhoids. Eating more fiber, and drinking more water will keep your stools softer, making them easier to pass. If you don't have to strain as much to have a bowel movement, you decrease your risk of developing hemorrhoids, and can relieve the symptoms of ones you may currently have. Just remember to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables, and add a healthy dose of whole grains to your diet. You may ask your doctor to give you a bulk stool softener, or fiber supplement to help you out.
